Step 3: Move Beyond the problem or challenge
You now are in a position to assist the client to move forward, as you will have a good understanding of what the issues are. Coaching encourages clients to contributing to developing their own solutions and the questions you ask can help them discover these.
Coaches can give good advice too, however enabling someone to see that they can develop their own solutions is truly empowering. Remember to address the different levels – beliefs, thoughts and actions as this is crucial to sustainable change.
Clients sometimes get impatient and want the solution straight away and you need to reassure them that the process so far has and will help you both find a way to move forward.
